These Terms & Conditions apply to private charter bookings with Dahabiya 1899.
By making or confirming a reservation, the lead guest confirms acceptance of these Terms & Conditions on behalf of all members of the party and of any specific conditions stated in the quotation, booking confirmation or invoice.
1. Booking & Payment
- All prices are quoted in USD per private charter, unless otherwise stated.
- A 25% non-refundable deposit is required within 14 days of written booking confirmation to secure the charter.
- The remaining 75% balance must be paid no later than 45 days before embarkation.
- Reservations made 45 days or less before embarkation require full payment upon confirmation.
- If payment is not received by the stated deadline, Dahabiya 1899 reserves the right to cancel and release the booking.
- Payment may be made by bank transfer or through the payment methods offered at the time of booking.
- Any payment, transfer or refund-related fees are subject to the conditions of the applicable payment provider or financial institution.
2. Cancellation
All cancellations must be made in writing.
- Cancellation more than 45 days before embarkation: a cancellation charge of 25% of the total charter price applies.
- Cancellation 45 days or less before embarkation: a cancellation charge of 100% of the total charter price applies.
- No-shows and early termination of the cruise are charged at 100% of the total charter price.
We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance, including appropriate cancellation and travel disruption cover.
3. Private Charter & Occupancy
Dahabiya 1899 operates on a private charter basis. The agreed price is for the private charter and is not calculated per guest.
The maximum permitted number of guests may not be exceeded. The names and passport details of all guests must be provided where required for permits, registration or other legal requirements.
Changes to the number or composition of the travelling party are subject to the vessel's maximum capacity and applicable regulations.
4. Included
Unless otherwise stated in the quotation or booking confirmation, the private charter includes:
- Transfers as specified in the confirmed itinerary
- Private accommodation on board
- Full board: breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner
- Tea, coffee, mineral water and soft drinks on board
- English-speaking Egyptologist guide for the included sightseeing programme
- Entrance tickets for the sites included in the confirmed itinerary
- Wi-Fi where available; connectivity cannot be guaranteed throughout the journey
5. Excluded
Unless expressly included in the booking confirmation, the following are not included:
- Gratuities
- Optional tours and activities
- Personal expenses
- Services not specified in the confirmed itinerary
6. Itinerary & Sailing Conditions
The Nile itinerary is subject to navigation conditions, water levels, weather, local regulations, instructions from authorities, mooring availability and other operational or safety considerations.
Dahabiya 1899 may reasonably adjust the sailing schedule, order of visits, mooring locations, embarkation or disembarkation point, or individual stops where necessary.
Such operational changes do not constitute cancellation of the charter provided that the overall journey and services can reasonably continue.
7. Changes Requested by Guests
Requests to change travel dates, itinerary, embarkation arrangements or other booking details are subject to availability and approval.
Additional costs resulting from an approved change are the responsibility of the guest.
Where a requested change cannot be accommodated, the original booking conditions remain applicable. A change of travel dates may be treated as a cancellation and new booking.
An approved change does not entitle the guest to a refund of any difference in price unless expressly agreed in writing.
8. Custom Itineraries
Custom itineraries are subject to availability, navigation possibilities, permits and operational feasibility.
Any specific itinerary, inclusions, price or payment conditions confirmed in writing for a custom charter form part of the booking.
Where specific conditions differ from these general Terms & Conditions, the conditions stated in the quotation, booking confirmation or invoice take precedence.
9. Force Majeure
Dahabiya 1899 is not liable for failure, delay or changes caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including severe weather, natural disasters, navigation restrictions, government action, war, civil or political unrest, border closures, epidemics, public health restrictions or other major disruptions.
Where such circumstances materially prevent the charter from operating, any available solution — which may include rescheduling, travel credit or a refund where applicable — will depend on the circumstances, applicable law and any non-recoverable costs already incurred or committed.
10. Guest Conduct & Safety
Guests must comply with reasonable instructions from the captain, crew and guide, particularly regarding navigation and safety.
Dahabiya 1899 reserves the right to refuse or discontinue services where a guest's conduct is dangerous, unlawful or seriously disruptive to the crew, vessel or other members of the party. Where services are terminated for these reasons, no refund will be due.
Guests are responsible for damage or loss caused by themselves or members of their party.
11. Liability
Guests are responsible for ensuring that they have valid passports, visas and other documents required for their journey.
Guests are responsible for their personal belongings.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Dahabiya 1899 is not responsible for loss, delay or additional expenses resulting from circumstances outside its reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
12. Complaints
Any problem during the charter should be reported to the captain, guide or Dahabiya 1899 as soon as reasonably possible, so that we have an opportunity to resolve it during the journey.
Any unresolved complaint should be submitted to Dahabiya 1899 in writing after the charter.
13. Governing Terms
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the applicable laws of Egypt.
Specific conditions stated in a quotation, booking confirmation or invoice take precedence over these general Terms & Conditions where they differ.
If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
